Due to the unprivileged terrain (slope towards north 7°) an urban pattern is developed offering maximum quality and maximum solar radiation for each apartment by predetermined density: 3 different housing types (single family house, 4-5 family house and apartment block with 12-15 units) are placed in relation to each other while providing sun and view aisles for the next and next but one neighbour. A second urban principle is overlaid coevally: along the new winding road small squares are created, following the traditional rural pattern and semi-public character of the Norwegian farmsteads. Each square is hosting a balanced mixture of housing types (3-5 houses) and number of apartments. With this a heterogeneous social pattern is implemented. In addition each house transforms into a diamond towards the sun with a pentagon shape floor plan.
